First Love's Elixir

Tan Shumian unexpectedly ends up sharing an apartment with Lu Ren, her childhood friend whom she hasn't seen in years.

It's a little awkward for her.

The reason is that back in high school, she foolishly turned him down once.

She has forgotten most things, but remembers one ordinary evening in high school.

The whole school lost power, leaving the classroom pitch-black.

With her eyes closed, she was silently memorizing vocabulary when he lightly kicked the back of her chair and muttered, "Hey, can't you think about it one more time?"

She turned around and saw his bright, dark eyes in the gloom, rebellious and a little annoyed, clearly unwilling to take no for an answer.

Tan Shumian has suffered from severe separation anxiety and skin hunger since childhood.

After they started sharing an apartment, her long-dormant condition began acting up frequently. It wasn't too serious, though, and she could still keep it under control.

Tan Shumian carefully maintained a frosty, polite distance from Lu Ren, trying not to bother him.

Unlike when they were teenagers, he treated her worse than a stranger. He didn't even bother pretending otherwise. When they ran into each other at home, they could barely exchange two words. He was utterly cold and distant.

Until one time, when he got drunk.

She unexpectedly learned from him that her condition had flared up in front of him, though she had no memory of it at all.

Mortified by what she imagined she'd done, she awkwardly checked the living room security footage.

Instead, she found herself fast asleep on the sofa, wearing his oversized suit jacket.

He was leaning on the back of the sofa, gazing down at her for a long time.

But nothing happened.

Just before she turned off the footage, she suddenly saw him slowly reach out toward her.

His fingertip brushed lightly over her lips. He quickly drew his hand back and pressed that finger to his own lips.
