The Scientific World Beginning with Mio

My name is Sakuragawa Mio, and I have a special ability no one knows about: I can create alternate accounts in other worlds. The depressing part is that all those accounts get the cannon-fodder role.

My first account was a young member of the Uchiha, a ninja clan in a village during the Warring States period. The day I awakened my Sharingan, following my clan's tradition, the Nine-Tails attacked the village, and my first account got killed on the spot.

My second account was a young lady from a wealthy family at the end of the nineteenth century. I lived a carefree life of luxury, but when my father died, my younger brother stabbed me in the back to seize the family fortune. That account was done for, too.

My third account was in the Taisho era. After my entire family was slaughtered, I joined the Demon Slayer Corps. But before I could avenge my family, I was killed by a demon whose head looked like someone had dumped a bucket of blood over it. My third account bit the dust.

Then came the fourth, the fifth... No matter which number it was, none of them ever had a happy ending. They left me with a deep-seated fear of death.

The one thing worth celebrating is that I can use the skills I learned through those accounts in my home world, too. With them, surely my main account can live a nice, long life. Let's start with a small goal: make it safely to ninety-nine!

But fate had other plans.

One day, an old man named Watanuki Tatsuzo showed up at my door with a group of people. He said my deadbeat dad, whom I saw only once every three years, was the boss of the Ninchinkai, but he'd kicked the bucket and left me a huge fortune to inherit. The only problem was that an old woman had already usurped his position. Still, if I went with him obediently, he could help me take over.

My first thought was: Oh no, am I going to lose my allowance now?

My second thought was: The name Ninchinkai is pretty lame.

And my last thought was: Does this old geezer think I'm stupid?
