Warbler Flying Through the Snowy Night

Lu Yanxi was the school's star: handsome, from a good family, and secretly admired by more than half the girls in his class. When he was occasionally late or left early, the teachers turned a blind eye.

Xiang Wan was a model student: poor and plain, quiet and solitary. She had transferred to the school just a month ago, but already everyone knew her mother worked as a housekeeper for the Lu family. Whenever she saw Lu Yanxi, she went out of her way to avoid him.

No one could have guessed that these two would get together.

So when Xiang Wan accidentally overheard Lu Yanxi talking with his friends, she wasn't all that surprised.

His friend asked, "Don't tell me you've fallen for your family's little housekeeper?"

Lu Yanxi paused before answering, still speaking in his usual casual tone. "It's just for fun. Taking it seriously would ruin it."

As soon as he finished speaking, he caught sight of a slight figure darting past the gap in the door.

Lu Yanxi continued partying with his friends as if nothing had happened. A few minutes later, he pushed open the door and chased after her.

When Xiang Wan met Lu Yanxi again, he was the client and she was the contractor.

At a gathering, someone organized a game and asked when everyone's first love had been.

When it was Lu Yanxi's turn, he said, "The summer after the college entrance exam."

When it was Xiang Wan's turn, she said, "After I graduated from college and started working."

A coworker teased her, saying it was hard to believe a beauty like her hadn't dated in college.

Xiang Wan smiled and said nothing more.

After the gathering, Lu Yanxi cornered Xiang Wan in his car. He looked dead drunk, but his eyes were bright and clear. "You never dated in college?"

Still wearing a professional smile, Xiang Wan lit a cigarette. Her manner was relaxed. "No. I was young back then. We were just playing house."
