[Blurb]

After returning victorious from a great battle against the Northern Di, Ling Yunshuang receives a gilded marriage decree: the Empress has bestowed the Chancellor's only daughter, Qin Qingli, upon her as her "wife."

The officials bow their heads and snicker. Who doesn't know this is an insult to someone whose achievements threaten the throne? How can two women worship Heaven and their ancestors together?

On their wedding night, beneath the weeping red candles, Ling Yunshuang points to the nuptial wine cups. "Miss Qin, have you thought this through? There's still time to call off the marriage..."

Before she can finish, a slender, pale finger presses against her lips.

Beneath the moonlit city tower, Qin Qingli's wide sleeves flutter. "If the General returns..."

She bites off the rest of her shy words, but Ling Yunshuang's ears turn red.

When the memorials impeaching her pile up on the Empress's desk, the Empress reads an intelligence report and laughs: the new steel repeating crossbows on the Ling army's front line are clearly the work of the Qin family's ingenious craftsmen!

P.S.

This story is set in an imaginary dynasty:

The Yunchuan Dynasty (the spirit of the Wei and Jin dynasties, with the official system of the Tang and Song dynasties)

An imaginary era founded on ingenious craftsmanship, ruled by an Empress who governs from behind the curtain.

Secrets lie hidden among the palaces and pavilions, while Mohist techniques and the power of the noble clans jointly rule the realm.

Ling Yunshuang handles military affairs and political schemes, while Qin Qingli, the virtuous wife (in name), manages the household and assists Ling Yunshuang.
