At the moment the bullet pierced her heart,

Ye Zitong's last sight was a drug lord's sneering gold teeth.

When she opened her eyes again, she was dressed in an indigo qipao.

Morse code flowed from a gramophone. It was 1928.

The beautiful, deadly blade of the Jingang Station had awakened.

After losing her abilities as a spy, Ye Zitong stumbled into a military training camp, where she met and fell in love with Shen Huanyan...

Love in an age of chaos was forbidden. They stayed by each other's side and protected one another...

On the day the smoke of war cleared, inside the newly opened Jinghong Photo Studio on the banks of the Huangpu River:

The owner was adjusting the camera, its focal length forever fixed at the distance of a heartbeat.

"Shen Huanyan, this wedding photo..."

Ye Zitong watched as the image gradually appeared in the developing fluid.

There they were, at the end of the smoke and fire, having stolen an inch of eternity.

On the negative, the moon was incomplete, but the two of them were together.

The red light of the darkroom came on. The truth slowly surfaced in the developing fluid:

On the black-and-white negative, two women had their fingers interlaced.

It was the moon, eaten away by smoke, from the night they first met.

Theme: Though the land is at peace, history must still be remembered.
