A Collection of Fermented Tales

Fermentation microbes are invisible to the naked eye, but they're everywhere, drifting through the air and clinging to the surfaces of all things.

As long as there's water, sugar, and a suitable temperature, they can grow as they please.

Fermentation is casual and widespread. Before microscopes were invented and yeast was discovered, people had already mastered fermentation techniques and learned to appreciate the deliciousness of fermented foods.

* Each story stands on its own and explores different facts. As a collection, the stories gradually explain the theme of fermentation.

* Homemade fermented foods that haven't been sterilized are not recommended for consumption! The conditions fermentation microbes love are just as appealing to other microbes.

Fermentation experiments make a great parent-child activity. Observe the appearance and smell, and you might discover something unexpected.

Theme: Experience the vitality of microorganisms through fermentation.
