Chapter One: The Misty Town (The Secret Group)
The astrologer who peered into hidden secrets learned the fated future,
The phantom thief who stole hope concealed an unlit wick,
The humanoid monster became an endless supply of lamp oil,
The widow who betrayed love kindled the flame that would drive them away,
Humanity carried on its spark beneath the shade of its ancestors, barely clinging to life until this day.
Anime opening theme
"The secret you're after is probably there."
"Haven't you always wanted to find yourself? Go. You'll find the answer there."
"Do you know how many years I've spent looking for her? Three years, three whole years! Now that I've finally got a lead, I'm going there, no matter what happens."
Where is that?
Owakan,
A town shrouded in mist all year round.
Eyes peer faintly through the cracks,
Glasses clink,
Cups are raised and lowered,
The bar blazes with light.
The goddess of fate casts a pitying glance,
Between drunkenness and wakefulness,
Day gives way to night,
Time turns back,
Everything is overturned and reset.
Where are you?
Two gunshots ring out in every night's dream,
A faceless figure appears in the mirror,
A wedding postponed without end awaits its bride.
A fate toyed with,
A tomorrow burdened by a lightless sea,
Behind the smiles of outsiders,
Lie layers upon layers of lies.
The truth you seek is right here.
Owakan does not welcome outsiders.
