As Lu Xizhou holds her close and kisses her amid the sea of flowers in the valley behind the mountain, his usually distant eyes brim with tender warmth. His burning lips brush against Tang Nian's neck as he murmurs, "Niannian, my Niannian."

Trapped in Lu Xizhou's arms, Tang Nian panics and accidentally tugs open his collar. On his jade-white collarbone, she spots a red mark shaped like a Moonbloom.

The sight blanks Tang Nian's mind. When she comes to, she still can't accept it, and reaches out to touch the mark. That vivid red nearly burns her eyes.

Damn it! How could Lu Xizhou have the exact same red mark as her own boss, the Demon Lord?

Thoroughly frightened, Tang Nian immediately packs her things and flees back to the Demon Realm.

She has barely made it back to her cave when the Demon Lord bursts in and pins her to the bed. In a hostile tone, he asks, "Tang Nian, now that you know it's me, are you disappointed?"

Tang Nian: "..."

Help... What do I do after flirting with my boss's secret identity?

Tang Nian thought being set up by a colleague and awkwardly flirting with her boss was bad enough. But apparently, Heaven decided her life wasn't miserable enough yet.

Before she can even figure out how to deal with that, she is inexplicably dragged into a formation. When the secret realm collapses, she and Lu Yinghuai are exposed in front of the Six Great Sects.

Tang Nian also realizes around this time that Lu Yinghuai is probably in the middle of doing something extremely dangerous.

And now she's already on board.

When the cultivators of the Six Great Sects force them to the summit of the immortal mountain, Lu Yinghuai tightens his arm around her waist and whispers in her ear:

"Don't be afraid. Even if we die, we'll die together."

Tang Nian: "..." Thanks, I guess.

1. I think this is more of a romance-focused story, so there probably won't be super-satisfying power-up arcs, but there will be a plot. The heroine grows over the course of the story, or at least I think she does.

2. Everything will follow the outline. I won't change the pacing or cut planned material.

After a long silence, Song Yu finally hears the chill in Shen Ji's voice:

"Song Yu, four years ago, you told me you wouldn't marry anyone. So what do you call what you're doing now?"

Song Yu runs away again.

Shen Ji gets drunk at a dinner party. Usually so good at hiding his emotions, he has the driver take him to Song Yu's home while he's still bleary-eyed with drink.

Song Yu has warned herself not to get involved with Shen Ji again, but in the end, she softens and helps him inside.

Shen Ji curls up and falls asleep on her narrow single bed. When Song Yu pulls over a blanket to cover him, she notices the silver necklace around his neck. Curious, she gently draws out the necklace hidden beneath his collar.

One glance is enough to make Song Yu's eyes fill with tears.

Hanging from the necklace is the wedding ring Shen Ji had prepared for her four years ago.
