Su Chen is a great demon who has cultivated for a thousand years. About a hundred years ago, after calculating that the key moment in his cultivation, when he would attain godhood, would come in City L, he brought the Su family there and settled in, waiting for his chance to become a god.
With the Su clan of demons entrenched in City L, they naturally caught the attention of the Lin family, a clan of demon hunters. The two families fought constantly for over a hundred years. It was only twenty years ago, when Su Chen finally took complete control and became head of the Su family, that they signed a treaty with the Lin family and put an end to their hostilities.
Times changed. The Su family had become a local powerful clan, but Su Chen grew increasingly uneasy. The crucial moment was drawing closer. One day, just as he sensed that his opportunity had finally arrived, he was unexpectedly struck by lightning.
When he came to, he had lost all his magic and had been picked up by a mortal who mistook him for a stray cat. Foolish mortal! I am no cat demon. I am the Cat God!
From the shou's perspective:
Qi Xing, a pet communicator, picked up a remarkable calico cat. Not only had the cat survived being struck by lightning, but Qi Xing couldn't communicate with it at all. Put simply, he couldn't hear the calico's thoughts.
After working as a pet communicator for so long, he could even tell what a tortoise was thinking. But no matter what he tried, he couldn't read the mind of the calico he'd brought home.
Curious, Qi Xing decided to try again. But just as he approached the calico, someone jumped in through his window. The newcomer wore a white Taoist robe and had an ethereal bearing. He flourished his sword beautifully and pointed it at Qi Xing's cat.
"You audacious fiend! Reveal your true form at once, or your Grandpa Lin Zhuoyu will shatter your demon core!"
Then something strange happened: Qi Xing finally heard the calico speak, in the cool, noble voice of a handsome man. Foolish mortal, stand aside!
How could such a pretty calico be as irritable as a tabby?
Later, when he learned that the irritable tabby he'd picked up was a cat immortal, he made a wish to the cat immortal: "Oh, all-powerful Cat Immortal, please let me never hear animals' thoughts again!"
Cat God Su Chen: I am your god!
