A Cannon Fodder's Survival on a Dating Show

Song Lai discovered that he was living in a book. He was a minor character who only appeared in the dating-show portion of the novel's first half. After the show ended, the story never mentioned him again. If he couldn't change that, he would die as soon as the plot made him disappear.

The good news was that the other contestants on the dating show included a handsome male lead, a gentle second male lead, a third male lead who stuck around for ages, and an evil antagonist. Their storylines were as long as the Great Wall.

Aside from the antagonist, who was ruthless, merciless, and cold-blooded, the other three were all decent people. In other words, if he ruled out the antagonist, he could pick anyone else and have a survival rate of up to 75 percent.

Song Lai soon settled on a target. The man was kindhearted and helpful, and in every way seemed like the opposite of an antagonist.

Song Lai knew that the contestants' choices would change drastically before and after they revealed their careers on the show. As a minor character with no family wealth or connections to speak of, Song Lai put in a tremendous effort to lock in his CP early, and finally began to see results.

Then the day came when the contestants revealed their identities.

The first to be exposed was the gentle second male lead. Song Lai sipped his tea leisurely.

The second to come clean was the third male lead who stuck around for ages. Song Lai gnawed on a little cake.

When the handsome male lead appeared as the third contestant, Song Lai finally began to feel a little restless.

Then the fourth contestant, the evil antagonist, was revealed. Song Lai looked at the screen, then at the CP he'd personally locked in. His world came crashing down.
