Her father has just passed away. Her stepmother, intent on tormenting her and her mother to death, orders them to manage a barren, unprofitable estate.

They must also pay a set sum of silver every month. When the year is up, if they are still alive and have failed to pay enough, her mother will be sold to a brothel.

Ling Kangkang has a planting and business System bound to her. How could she let her family be killed by that wicked woman?

It's only fifty taels of silver a month, six hundred taels a year! She rents a mountain, plants fruit trees and spices, and completely revamps the restaurant. In just one month, she easily earns six hundred taels.

The clan elder's granddaughter is about to be married, but her face is covered in pimples and she's too embarrassed to be seen. No problem! Ling Kangkang grows some acne-curing herbs, and she's better in five days. The clan elder is won over!

The local registrar, a regular at the restaurant, has a pregnant wife who finds all food tasteless. No problem! Ling Kangkang serves up spicy stir-fry, and the wife's appetite returns. The registrar is won over!

The clan elder draws up a witnessed document, and the six hundred taels are paid to the Yu family. Ling Kangkang's name is removed from the Yu family genealogy. The registrar restores her mother's status as a free commoner on the spot. All done! She tosses out some silver and leaves!

See how Ling Kangkang grows from a small restaurant owner into a business tycoon.

Years later, Wen Changge recalls the words a young woman once said to him as she sat on her doorstep eating melon.

"Hey, hero, earning fame and fortune in this world is so hard. Why not give it up? I'll farm and support you!"

How did he answer her then?

He said nothing, letting his silence stand in for an answer.

If he could have one more chance, he would put everything aside and give her a different answer.

"All right. We'll share our melons and farm together!"
