The colleagues at the Yucheng Criminal Investigation Squad always felt the gap between their two captains was as wide as the distance between the equator and the North Pole.

Captain Lu Cheng had clearly had a rough life, yet she lived like a little sun.

She was always warm to her colleagues and ruthless with criminals. She'd personally brought back enough criminals to fill an entire company.

She could steady everyone's nerves at a bloody crime scene, and get even the most defiant suspect to tell the truth.

There wasn't a single person in the whole department who didn't like her.

Deputy Captain Gu Yu'an was a top-notch technical expert, exceptionally capable and a key recruit for the department's leadership.

But he was distant and aloof, a man of few words.

Aside from discussing cases, he found it exhausting to say even one extra word to his colleagues. He only talked a little more around Lu Cheng.

At first, everyone thought Gu Yu'an's special consideration for Lu Cheng came purely from admiration for a fellow officer.

After all, no one on the team disliked Captain Lu, their little sun. And besides, Gu Yu'an was such a workaholic that he had no room in his heart for anything but cases.

Gu Yu'an finally looked up at him.

"What else would we be?"

"Do I look like I have the time to treat everyone this nicely?"

What a shameless double-standard jerk! He was so blatant about it that the colleague wanted to call the police, but was afraid he'd be the one who had to respond :)
