The Tang Dynasty Illusionist

When Yang Ruoyun was two, Luoyang began to be called the Divine Capital. The Empress Dowager ascended the throne, and the Tang Dynasty became the Zhou Dynasty.

As the younger daughter of the proprietress of a small Luoyang eatery, her lifelong dream was to see the empress in person.

As she grew up and began cooking dishes from modern recipes, the little eatery turned into a grand restaurant. That's when she realized this world was a little different.

She saw that the melons her parents had bought were actually stones, the copper coins a customer paid with were paper offerings, and a cat could actually talk.

There was also a kidnapper carrying an unconscious, fine-clothed youth on his back, while everyone else insisted he was carrying a bundle of firewood... After she exposed him, a disfigured woman abducted her.

She had been born with clear sight, able to see through every illusion in the world. The woman even asked whether she wanted to become her apprentice.

Only then did Yang Ruoyun learn that Tang Dynasty had illusionists.

After ten years of training, just as she graduated, she heard that the empress had issued an edict summoning illusionists from across the realm to gather in the Divine Capital.

Her master sent her down the mountain to find someone and avenge her.

PS: 1. This is neither fantasy nor historical fiction, just illusion arts and martial arts, with wondrous but not world-defying illusions like those in The Legend of the Demon Cat.

2. The male lead is an original character, not a historical figure, with an original setting.
