White Tide (Original Title: Uncle)

This novel was originally titled "Little Uncle."

Xie Ru has liked Liao Sinian for many years.

Later, her adoptive father was investigated for his under-the-table business, and Xie Ru had no choice but to leave.

Three years later.

Liao Sinian walked into a convenience store by the roadside with a female companion.

Behind the counter, Xie Ru quietly put on a mask to cover most of her face and didn't dare look up the entire time.

Only after he left did she wipe the sweat from her nose and turn to restock the shelves.

His companion was still chatting with Liao Sinian.

He listened absently, then pulled out a banknote and asked her to go back and buy something else.

When getting her change, the companion said awkwardly, "Could you give it all to me in ten-cent coins?"

Xie Ru looked up.

She forced herself to add, "I heard counting money helps you learn your lesson."

During the first few years after Xie Ru was adopted, she was often bullied.

Once, she was cornered in an alley and beaten to the ground.

That day, Liao Sinian hauled her to her feet and threw coins all over the alley.

He made the bullies kneel and count the money, starting over whenever they made a mistake.

With a look of contempt, he said, "Count it a few more times and maybe you'll learn your lesson."

After that, Liao Sinian repeatedly told Xie Ru she could come to him anytime if she needed help.

But right up until she left, Xie Ru never once called him.

Xie Ru quietly looked at his embarrassed companion and pushed the money toward her.

"I don't need that skill."

"The purchase is on me."

Five-year age gap. She once called the male lead "Little Uncle" because of their difference in seniority, but they aren't blood-related.
