Layers of Silk Floss, Mountains Upon Mountains

Zhu Yuqi is the Ghost Valley's Holy Maiden, with the Three-Life Spring in her hands, enough to keep Ghost Valley safe for a hundred years.

On one trip outside the valley, she brought back an exceptionally handsome man.

He was weak in martial arts and thin, with nothing to recommend him except his face.

During his six months in Ghost Valley, he endured endless mockery. The men of the valley provoked him until his eyes were bloodshot.

Zhu Yuqi smiled and comforted him. "Why bother with them? Just tell them you're my man, and no one will dare act out of line again."

"Xiu Luoli, I am second only to The Outcast and above ten thousand others. I'm more than worthy of you. What are you hesitating for?"

One night, the ten-mile barrier outside Ghost Valley was suddenly breached. Martial arts sects infiltrated the valley and slaughtered every ghost they found.

Zhu Yuqi tried to summon the Three-Life Spring and draw the ghosts into it, so they could secretly cross beneath Green Mountain Cliff. But she discovered that the spring's source had been sealed and its water had gone still.

Flames filled the valley. Her people fled, and everywhere she looked, life had been laid waste.

Zhu Yuqi stood by the Ghost Stele, facing the wind, covered in blood, as a figure slowly approached from several yards away: Xiu Luoli, the current leader of the martial arts world.

He was a martial arts prodigy rumored to be able to take on a hundred opponents at once. Before he had even come of age, he had already created a peerless martial arts technique of his own.

Xiu Luoli said, "A-Qi, put down your sword. I'll take you away."

Zhu Yuqi slowly raised her sword, her eyes bloodshot, and ground out, "Xiu Luoli, go to hell!"
