[Blurb 1]

They first met in the peach grove on West Mountain. Xie Qingzheng was blind when she found Mo Jiangxue, who was covered in wounds.

When they met again at Misty Peak, Xie Qingzheng was the least notable new disciple, while Mo Jiangxue was a celebrated, aloof immortal of the cultivation sect, pure as jade and ice, with a musician’s heart and a swordswoman’s courage. Even her coldness was captivating.

After they became master and disciple, Xie Qingzheng stayed by Mo Jiangxue’s side every day, offering up heartfelt, honest words:

“Master, you’re so good to me.”

“Wherever you go, I’ll follow.”

“I’ll stay by your side for the rest of my life. As long as you’re with me, I’m not afraid of anything.”

With her unguarded heart full of admiration, Xie Qingzheng said these blunt, sappy things. Mo Jiangxue could hardly bear to hear them. She responded coolly:

“I haven’t been especially good to you. I’m simply doing my duty as your teacher.”

“Then I’ll go somewhere you can’t find me.”

“The path of cultivation is long and difficult. Don’t rely on me too much.”

Xie Qingzheng remained just as she was.

Her master taught her the way of cultivation and music, and always responded to her. Of course, she cherished and relied on her master. Then, little by little, affection blossomed.

She buried her feelings deep and kept to the proper boundaries, never daring to overstep.

She no longer dared to speak those blunt, sincere words, afraid she might accidentally expose the forbidden thoughts she harbored.

Her master was so good to her. She shouldn’t have fallen for her. She had to keep her distance.

But Mo Jiangxue sought her out, drew close, and looked at her with a complicated expression.

“Why have you changed?”

[Blurb 2]

To be free of worldly desires does not mean to have no feelings. It means feeling deeply without being held captive by those feelings.

When Mo Jiangxue first entered the mortal world, she was indifferent to desire and took only one disciple, a warm and sincere girl who devoted herself to the Way alongside her.

Everyone said her disciple was graceful and gentle, destined to become a model of the cultivation world and a beacon of righteousness.

But Mo Jiangxue didn’t expect her disciple to become any kind of beacon. She only taught her to take things as they came, follow her heart, and be herself.

After returning from the dead, she faced her disciple in silence amid the misty rain.

Her beloved disciple wore blood-red robes, seeming both ghost and immortal. Surrounded by three thousand cultivators, she asked without expression, “Have you come to take my life, too?”

The once refined and gentle girl had become a bloodstained outcast, infamous and hated by the entire cultivation world.

Mo Jiangxue reached out.

The three thousand cultivators thought she was about to personally put her disciple in her place, and cheered as one: “This insolent traitor who defies her master and dares to speak so boldly should have been cast out of the sect long ago!”

But Mo Jiangxue merely tenderly wiped the blood from her disciple’s lips, then kissed her between the brows as if no one else were there.

The three thousand cultivators: ??? Beg your pardon!!!

Late at night, her beloved disciple took her hand, leaned close, and breathed softly by her ear as she pleaded, “You taught me the Way and music. Teach me one more thing: how to make you happy… please?”
