Hunter? Are You Hunting a Mermaid Like Me?

Original title: After Binding to the Wrong System

Venus transmigrates.

Two pieces of good news:

1. When she transmigrated, she bound herself to a Best Actress Training System that promised to give her the life of a novel heroine.

2. The System gave her peerless beauty, making her a heartthrob capable of winning over any man.

Two pieces of bad news:

1. She transmigrated into the extremely dangerous Hunter world.

2. The price of her beauty was becoming a mermaid. Forget entering show business, she can’t even enter human society. She did become a big star, though, just one on the auction block.

What a joke. This damn System is completely useless.

The deeply frustrated, useless Best Actress System starts developing its useless abilities, barely managing to help Venus survive one crisis after another.

For example, at a life-or-death moment, Venus can randomly bind herself to a role in a script with anyone stronger than her. They can then role-play under a caretaker-and-dependent relationship.

And so a ruthless male leader of a gang of thieves becomes her caretaker, while they randomly get assigned a mother-daughter relationship.

Venus: ... Aaaaaah! You useless piece of junk, just die already!

And the stupid System keeps piling it on.

System: As the heroine of a feel-good story, you should humiliate the villainous supporting characters and create satisfying moments.

Venus stares silently at the gang of Spider thieves around her.

No, that’s not satisfying at all. They’re one-time resurrection points. This is hell!

[Important]: The heroine doesn’t know the original story, is a short-tempered mermaid with no manners, and isn’t very strong. The main setting is Hunter x Hunter, but characters from other anime will appear. Happy ending.

Blurb:

Lin Miao wakes up in a strange new world of the future.

She is in a foreign country and doesn’t speak the language, but luckily, a kind old person takes her in, and she settles in a quiet little village in the countryside.

Lin Miao assumes the name Janina. As she learns the language and gets to know this world, she discovers that its culture is quite similar to the far west as she knows it. This world may even have her homeland, and perhaps one day she can return home.

Full of hope, Lin Miao does her best to adapt to country life. Days pass in peace and quiet.

But then war suddenly breaks out across the world!

This isn’t the front line, but the nearest city to the little village has become the largest military base of the allied nations.

The situation grows increasingly turbulent, beyond anyone’s control. Then someone knocks at the door of the cottage on the outskirts.

“Routine inspection.” A sharply dressed officer smiles from the doorway.

Fortunately, the officers and soldiers who search the house don’t cause any trouble. They’re just about to leave when the officer leading them stops as he passes Lin Miao. His gaze, not exactly discreet, lingers on her face for a few seconds. His blue eyes are sunken beneath the shadows of his brow.

“Are you single, miss?”

The tall officer in a dark uniform bends toward her, casting a heavy shadow. The soldiers behind him are holding guns.

This is definitely not flirting.

Lin Miao sees him extend a hand, offering her an invitation.

“Beautiful miss, I have a job that would suit you perfectly.”

Lin Miao looks up at him. “What if I’m already engaged?”

His expression barely changes as he smiles and replies:

“Then please end your engagement as soon as possible.”
