Spread the Word: Ranpo Got Scammed

Content notes:

The early chapters focus on everyday life. The female lead transmigrates and runs a dessert shop. She likes giving stray animals strange names.

The female lead's ability: [Divine Plunder]

Activation condition: Clearly say the ability user's name.

Effect: Steal the user's ability for 24 hours.

Side effect: Each use costs her a portion of her memories from her previous life.

Blurb:

Ranpo has recently met a beautiful idiot named Meiko. She's truly gorgeous, but not very bright.

Normally, Ranpo isn't interested in people whose brains are mush, but she's so foolish that he finds it strange.

Edogawa Ranpo is only five characters long. Anyone without a missing brainstem should be able to remember it after hearing it a few times, yet somehow Meiko can't.

After observing her, Ranpo discovers that she can't remember anyone's name, not just his.

Ranpo: Great. He wasted all that time!

Meiko: Mr. Detective, would you like to come to my dessert shop for a treat?

Ranpo: ...

Ranpo: Sure!

Because Meiko runs a dessert shop, she and Ranpo grow closer and closer, until he realizes he suddenly wants to take her home with him.

She's so foolish. Surely no one else would want her.

After carefully setting his trap, Ranpo is ready to sit back and reap the rewards, until one day...

Meiko says the name of the haughty Ryunosuke right to his face. That's when Ranpo realizes she isn't unable to remember people's names. She's afraid to remember them.

As for her ability, he would call it Divine Plunder:

She steals other people's abilities, while losing the memories she holds dear in return.

P.S.

This is probably a story about letting go of the past and fully embracing a new life.

Theme: Choosing between the past and a new beginning.
