Before Dad Went Bankrupt

[Dear little angels, I’m so sorry!! I spent a week agonizing over whether to keep updating this novel, and tried to find a new angle, but none of the ideas worked out very well. So I can only stop for now and set this novel aside for the time being.] Lu Yu grew up in a small town. To get into a city middle school, a key provincial high school, and then a Project 985 university, she spent the best years of her life battling it out in the academic rat race. Who could have known that before she even graduated from college, a relative would call and pressure her to return to her hometown for a blind date? The relative’s exact words: “Why does a girl need so much education? In the end, she’s going to find a man, get married, and have kids anyway.” Lu Yu looked at her father. The man said nothing. In her memory, her father had always been this weak and dispirited, spending his days with cigarettes and alcohol for company. He let people berate her while she could barely lift her head. But that night, the man apologized to her, smelling of alcohol. “Sweetheart, I’m sorry. If I hadn’t squandered the family fortune your grandfather left us, I could have let you live the life you wanted.” Lu Yu didn’t take him seriously. But when she transmigrated back twenty years, she discovered that the unbelievable story her father had told was actually true. The Lu family really had been incredibly rich! Among a group of fashionable, trendsetting rich kids, she saw her father surrounded by admirers, brimming with confidence and nothing like the man he’d become twenty years later. Lu Yu pushed her way through the young heirs and gorgeous models, then dragged Old Lu down from his motorcycle. “Still partying? If you don’t work hard now, how are you going to hold on to the family fortune?” “If you lose the family fortune, how will you give your daughter a good life?” “Now it’s your turn to get in the rat race!” Theme: Work hard at life, and everything will get better.
