The Cannon Fodder's Overseas Relatives Are Sending Money Again [1960s]

Shen Nian transmigrates into a period novel as a cannon-fodder female supporting character.

This cannon fodder has it truly rough: her younger brother steals her job assignment, her childhood sweetheart breaks off their engagement, and she is on the verge of being married off in exchange for a bride price.

Fortunately, she binds herself to a System that connects two worlds!

On the other end of the System is 2026. On this end, it is 1966.

Discarded books and scrap metal from the 1960s are priceless antiques in the modern era.

Meanwhile, compressed biscuits and powdered milk from modern supermarkets are life-saving provisions in the 1960s.

To explain where her supplies come from, Shen Nian invents an "overseas relative" for herself.

From then on, her life takes off.

Not enough grain? Her overseas relative sends fine white flour.

No money to spend? Her overseas relative wires her a huge sum in remittances from overseas Chinese.

No technical expertise? Her overseas relative sends a complete set of industrial machinery, helping her open a factory.

Everyone is green with envy that she has such a powerful backer.

But Shen Nian sets up factories and builds businesses as a representative of the families of overseas Chinese. Every factory she opens becomes a hit, and her purse grows ever fuller until she becomes her own powerful backer.

Meanwhile, major museums across the modern world begin receiving mysterious anonymous donations one after another.

The Tang Honglu Well Stele, looted by the Japanese army; the Dragon Head and Snake Head, two of the Twelve Bronze Animal Heads from the Old Summer Palace whose whereabouts were unknown; the complete Dunhuang manuscript The Demon-Subduing Transformation Text, which had ended up overseas...

Every single item bears the pain and regret of the nation. Every single item fills a void in the history of Chinese civilization.

The donor signs only with the words: "Patriotic Overseas Chinese."

The whole nation is in an uproar.

The media scramble to report the story, and the entire internet frantically asks:

Just who is this mysterious big shot, capable of bringing these treasures, lost in the mists of history, home one by one?

Shen Nian, who keeps her good deeds hidden, says that at first, she really just wanted enough to eat!
