Spring Night

Fu Shichen first saw Shen Hui at a temple at the foot of South Mountain.

A light rain fell over the city, and wisps of white mist drifted through the air.

Shen Hui held a blue oil-paper umbrella. Dressed in a simple, elegant cheongsam made of Xiangyun silk, she danced through the curtain of rain.

She was there to pray with her fiance.

Fu Shichen was ruthless, a demon king who had crawled out of the lowest depths of hell. Even his wife was someone he had seized from another man by any means necessary.

Everyone in Nancheng knew that the Shen family's young miss had been bedridden with illness for years. She was a renowned beauty, frail and sickly. A delicate young lady like her, once in Fu Shichen's hands, was sure to meet a terrible end. It wouldn't be long before she was gone.

Back then, no one could have imagined that one day they would see Fu Shichen kneeling beside Shen Hui's bed, coaxing her ever so gently to take her medicine.
