When Jiang Zhan transferred to No. 3 High School, rumors spread that she'd been expelled for bad behavior.

Jiang Zhan and Chen Qingshi's names came up all the time, but no one ever put them together.
No one knew that Jiang Zhan had fallen for Chen Qingshi at first sight.
Everyone said Chen Qingshi was aloof and proud, like the moon reflected on water or a flower in a mirror: beautiful, but impossible to reach.
Jiang Zhan didn't believe it. She was determined to try and pluck this lofty flower herself.
Later, in a dim alley, Jiang Zhan revealed her true nature. Grinning coldly, she held a knife in her hand and rescued the boy from a group surrounding him.
Chen Qingshi let her lead him by the hand, staring at her without blinking.
Jiang Zhan suppressed her irritation as she treated his wounds.
The next moment, Chen Qingshi suddenly reached out and clasped her slender, cool wrist.
Bright red blood ran down her wrist. Just as Jiang Zhan came back to herself and looked up, pain struck her lips.
The boy's dark eyes reflected her stunned, dazed expression. It was the first time Jiang Zhan had seen him smile, but his gaze was dark and his voice cold, with a hint of hoarseness. He said, each word deliberate: "You're the one who provoked me."

Later, someone exposed Jiang Zhan's past: her father was in prison for murder, her mother had been the other woman in an affair, and Jiang Zhan had bullied a classmate until they jumped to their death. She had been forced to transfer schools.
Insults rang in her ears, but Jiang Zhan acted as if she hadn't heard a thing and kept going to class as usual.
One evening in early winter, someone doused Jiang Zhan with cold water and locked her in the bathroom.
Chen Qingshi searched through all the surveillance footage until he found her.
Jiang Zhan was a complete mess, but she wasn't afraid of the cold. She smiled again. "Didn't you hear what they said? It's all true."
"I'm not a good person."
The boy silently took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders. He gave a slight, crooked smile. "I'm not a good person either."
Chen Qingshi lowered his head and leaned close, his warm lips almost touching her neck. He murmured:
"I told you, you were the one who provoked me first."
