Faux Innocence and Hidden Darkness

Chu Dongwan was the beloved eldest daughter of Jilu Mountain Manor, raised from childhood to act like a chivalrous hero:

She stopped runaway horses, beat up bullies, chased thieves, drank in brothels, and loved to help those in trouble.

Then one day, her parents went to fulfill the martial arts alliance leader Xiao Yi's request to "eliminate the four evils" and disappeared, their fate unknown. Jilu Mountain Manor fell into decline.

To secure her protection, her elder brother, Chu Muqi, had no choice but to marry her off to Jiang Xilang.

But on her wedding day, Chu Dongwan seized her chance and slipped away, planning to venture out into the martial world and uncover the truth behind her parents' disappearance.

A struggle for power, baseless accusations, and hidden murderous intent follow one after another along the way.

On the surface, Jiang Xilang is a helpless "chicken breast" with no strength to truss one. In reality, he's cunning and calculating, with a knack for getting his way.

His reasons for approaching her are anything but innocent...

When they were children, Chu Dongwan used threats and bribes to make Jiang Xilang play house with her. She bossily made him be her bride, painted his lips, dressed him in a wedding gown, and pushed his head down to make him bow at the wedding. What fun!

Back then, she was carefree and innocent, the pampered apple of her parents' eyes.

Years passed in a flash, and suddenly her parents were missing, with their fate unknown.

As an adult, she no longer thought about marriage or children. All she wanted was to find her enemy and take revenge.

On her wedding day, Chu Dongwan escaped under cover of darkness, only to be caught and brought back by Jiang Xilang.

She stuck out her chin and declared, "I'm going to be the leader of the martial arts world. If you want a pretty wife to keep you company, you've got the wrong person!"

Jiang Xilang's eyes lit up. He smiled, his tone full of indulgence. "Then I'll travel the martial world with you. Once you become the leader, I'll be the leader's husband. Sounds good to me."

Chu Dongwan: ...

Why was this not going at all like she'd imagined?

Well, she might as well let him come along.

Theme: It takes a great deal of love to set out without hesitation.
