A Manga's Marginalized Heroine, but Also the Savior

Lu Miao is a marginal female lead in a sports anime.

One day, she gets bound to a barrage of comments and an online forum.

[So annoying. Why is there a female lead in a perfectly good hot-blooded sports series?]

[She can't even play ball, and she doesn't bring my fave water when he's thirsty. What use is she besides shouting encouragement?]

[Does she even get more than six seconds of screen time per episode? Forget Lu Miao, let's just call her Miss Six Seconds.]

[It's always the same few lines. Can the author stop dragging her out to pad the runtime?]

Basketball Boys is currently the hottest competitive sports anime for young people. Its characters are compelling, and its friendships are deeply moving.

At first, everyone hated the introverted female lead, believing that someone with no competitive spirit didn't deserve to be in an anime.

But when the story reached its midpoint, everyone was shocked. Wait, isn't this a sports anime? Why are there monsters? Author, where the hell have you taken us?

While the characters strive for their youth, that woman is on the front lines, fighting monsters and saving people. While the characters raise their trophies and celebrate over dinner, that woman is huddled in an alley, tending to her wounds...

[Lu-jie, sob, there's no one who doesn't love you.]

[Please, Lu-jie, save this kid. He's about to be possessed by a monster!]

[Stop drawing basketball already. Give us some tense, thrilling fights where only the strong survive!]

Lu Miao, who just wants to be an ordinary high school student: "?"
