In the end, Zero One was purchased by the Shi family, an ancient noble house of the Federation. As a protection-class bioroid, he signed a contract with his employer and was tasked with protecting the life and safety of the Shi family's youngest young master.

Yet as Zero One spent more and more time with Shi Qingdu, he noticed a viscous substance forming in his heart. He couldn't explain it, but it made his blood race and his heartbeat lose its rhythm.

Zero One knew he had developed feelings he should not have, and fallen in love with someone he should not love. When Shi Qingdu left on a mission, he secretly left the Shi residence.

He was a disobedient bioroid, and destruction was his only possible fate. Zero One turned himself in, admitting that he had developed feelings, and the executioner immediately decided to destroy him.

Only, he didn't say that he had fallen in love with his master.

At the last moment before the execution, the executioner asked whom he had fallen in love with. Zero One shook his head and asked to leave.

A bioroid bullet took aim. Zero One closed his eyes. But at the critical moment, someone kicked open the adjacent isolation-room door. The man who should have been at a high-level military conference, planning operations on the battlefield, suddenly appeared in this grim execution chamber. Shi Qingdu raised his gun and stopped the final punishment.

The man stood in front of Zero One.

Zero One's eyes widened.

Shi Qingdu, usually so composed, had fury written all over his face. Everyone thought the chief was angry that his property had fallen in love with someone else, and would surely destroy him with his own hands.

Instead, the young chief suddenly bent down and gently gathered the frightened, defective bioroid into his arms.

"Tell me, who have you fallen in love with?"

"Is the love I've given you still not enough?"
