Just One Step Away

1.

Over the long years, Zhu Shi's one regret was never having experienced the joys of the mortal world, namely, falling in love.

After using her divine power to restore the Heavenly Dao, she opened her eyes again and found herself in the body of a little girl.

On a stormy night, Shen Yue stepped out of a supermarket and ran into the ferociously adorable Zhu Shi.

As the strongest Celestial Master, Shen Yue was defeated in a single move. From then on, she swallowed her pride and became Zhu Shi's bodyguard, nanny, and meal ticket.

2.

Zhu Shi had a secret. After leaving the Underworld, she could only use her divine power three times in the mortal realm, and she used the first one to deal with Shen Yue, that hapless fool.

At first, all she wanted was a long-term meal ticket. She didn't expect Shen Yue to be so capable, the sort who could throw her weight around in the mortal realm, and an excellent cook to boot.

Following the principle of "When there's trouble, Shen Yue handles it," Zhu Shi was having the time of her life and nearly forgot that she'd come to the mortal realm to find love.

When Shen Yue learned what she was after, and thought of Zhu Shi's three beautiful and charming disciples, she mused, "I guess I've outlived my usefulness. Hmm, I'd better make myself useful again."
