The Sacrificial Male Zerg

This is a story with an incredibly small scope. The only characters throughout may be the two leads, and it leans toward healing.

[An instinct-driven, blank-slate chatterbox male Zerg × a temporarily checked-out, cold-faced but warm-hearted female Zerg]

Cheng Wu was born in an era when relations between male and female Zerg had reached an unprecedented crisis. The Empire demanded that every qualified female Zerg be able to hold her own in public, cook in the kitchen, and warm someone's bed.

Yet even qualified female Zerg, even the very best of them, were still trampled underfoot by male Zerg.

Male Zerg were the moon in the sky; female Zerg were dust on the ground.

Cheng Wu was an exceptional female Zerg. He believed all Zerg were born equal and spoke out at length for equality. As a result, male Zerg oppressed him, while female Zerg couldn't stand him either.

The equality movement failed, and the female Zerg he had fought to protect offered him up as a sacrifice to a blood-red planet.

Cheng Wu was utterly disheartened. But the being he was sacrificed to, the consciousness of that planet, turned out to be a male Zerg, utterly unlike every male Zerg he had ever known.

After that, in a world containing only the two of them, he was the male Zerg's sacrifice, yet the male Zerg gave him the equality he had wanted.

So what if he pushed his luck a little? What if he turned the tables?
