Green Plum Wine

[Can a childhood friend ever beat the newcomer?]

Xu Qingjiu thought she had long since moved on, but when she saw the letter sent by her school, she still hid herself away in a cramped room, just as she used to.

"Hello, Xu Qingjiu from ten years in the future. Did you get your wish and become Mrs. Kang?"

The handwriting was childish, brimming with joy and happiness.

The paper she had once treasured like a precious keepsake now lay crumpled on the floor.

It took Xu Qingjiu a long while to remember that, during the activity, her friend had asked her to write a note to herself and put it in the letter, to be read ten years later. She had written:

"I'll tell you a secret: I like Kang Haowen."

She hurriedly called her friend, but the voice that answered was a familiar one.

Back in high school, nobody would have expected Xu Qingjiu and Kang Haowen to become a couple. One was reserved and taciturn, the other shy and quiet. The two top students sat at opposite ends of the classroom and had nothing to do with each other, yet they got together after the college entrance exams.

Xu Qingjiu and Kang Haowen went to the same middle school, the same high school, and the same university.

On the day the college entrance exams ended, Kang Haowen found Xu Qingjiu. The quiet science student confessed for the first time, stumbling over his words and making Xu Qingjiu laugh.

They got together.

In their sophomore year, Wen Lu transferred into their major. In their junior year, they broke up. In their senior year, Xu Qingjiu met Zhou Huai and became the newcomer in his life.

When Zhou Huai's childhood friend came to see her, Xu Qingjiu thought of her younger self and walked away.

Fans all know that Sweet Su only draws sweet comics, which earned her the nickname "Pastry Chef."

During a livestream with fans, someone asked her about it. As she was about to answer under the host's watchful gaze, Qi Rang, who had also joined the livestream, put an arm around her.

"It's because we're sweet in real life, too," Qi Rang said with a confident grin.

He knew that the person Jiujiu had once liked was surely watching them on the screen.
