The Price of Mistaking a God

[Modern setting]

[Short version] After developing impure feelings for the deity I worship, I found out that my god is actually an evil god???

[The light, happily playing among the green leaves, didn't know humans could lie, just like her god.]

The Chosen are a people who believe in and serve life. The Shi family is one such clan. Its members have been followers of the Druid faith since birth, worshipping the supreme God of Nature.

Shi Yu displayed extraordinary talent from the moment she was born. As a young child, she wandered, dazed, into the depths of the forest. When she returned, strange branches were entwined around her arm. The Shi family believed this was a sign of the god's favor, because the god's incarnation in the mortal world was an oak tree.

From then on, Shi Yu could occasionally see the god's apparition, hear her cool, distant voice, and feel her touch.

Precognition. The god had given Shi Yu the ability to see the future. In the Shi family's thousands of years of history, no one had ever received such an honor.

But Shi Yu was not satisfied. She didn't know when an evil, impure seed had appeared in her heart, but through each encounter with the god, it took root and sprouted. Her god knew nothing of it and still gazed at her with those beautiful eyes, just as she always had.

How could a human possibly have a god all to herself? When Shi Yu imagined that, once her life came to an end, her god would use those same eyes to look at someone else, the flames of jealousy blazed in her heart.

Marking... By chance, Shi Yu discovered a way to have her god all to herself. The author of that book was also someone who wanted to monopolize a god, someone who, like her, deserved to be cast into hell.

A god? She gazed at her follower, wearing a strangely satisfied and delighted expression. Her little follower, and those foolish humans, had never realized that they had mistaken her for a god.
