Yun Jiulin is an office worker. Every morning when she goes running, she sees a girl named Lin Luo sitting in a wheelchair. The girl seems lonely, and after a chance encounter, they become friends. Yun Jiulin learns that Lin Luo lives in the apartment building across from hers.

After learning that Lin Luo's parents are both dead and that she lives alone, Yun Jiulin often takes her out. As they spend time together, Yun Jiulin's feelings for the girl begin to change.

But for some reason, ever since she met Lin Luo, all sorts of strange people have started appearing around her. They possess powers no human should have.

By chance, Yun Jiulin overhears a group of them talking and hears Lin Luo's name. Worried they intend to hurt the girl, she hurries to the apartment across the street.

She reaches Lin Luo's room and knocks, but the person who opens the door is a disheveled young man. Yun Jiulin grabs him and demands to know where Lin Luo is. To her surprise, he starts crying. A middle-aged woman opens the door next door and stares at Yun Jiulin in terror.

Unable to find Lin Luo, Yun Jiulin heads home in disappointment, only to find the girl waiting outside her door...
