Love After Thirty

A private detective agency on the verge of closing received its first big case in ages: find a suitable spouse for the current head of the Yun family. Xia Yichen refused to be swayed: I'm a detective, not a matchmaker, damn it

"Three hundred thousand."

"Deal."

The client had only one requirement for the future spouse: easy to get along with.

How hard could that be? Xia Yichen asked everyone in his enormous circle of contacts, but damn it, not a single person was easy to get along with.

Just as he was about to give up on the three hundred thousand he had practically had in his hands, the client suddenly asked him, "Will you marry me?"

Xia Yichen had just woken up from a drunken night: "Huh?"

And just like that, Xia Yichen, nearing thirty, married into the Yun family and became Mr. Yun's live-in son-in-law. The two treated each other with courtesy.

The day he got his marriage certificate, Xia Yichen was in a daze: How the hell did I get married?!

Three years earlier, Yun Tiao had crossed paths with a drunken man whose head was bleeding. He wasn't quick enough to dodge and got kissed by force. The culprit even cried and asked if Yun Tiao could please not marry anyone else.

He said, "All right," but the drunkard turned and walked away without a care, throwing Yun Tiao's orderly life into disarray and ushering in one bewildering dream after another, each with an ending impossible to predict.

Three years later, Yun Tiao ran into that drunkard again and decided to strike first, whisking him off to get married.

For Xia Yichen, it was a romantic case of love at first sight. For Yun Tiao, it was a long-awaited reunion after years apart.

P.S. Top's point of view. Same-sex marriage is legal in this setting. A sweet, slice-of-life story.
