After My Ex-Boyfriend Turned into My Cat

I'll update this story after finishing "When Love Runs on Empty."

After graduating, Zhu Yu gets a job at a large corporation.

The workload is light, the pay is good, she works nine to five and has social insurance. Her savings are growing steadily, and she looks set to coast happily until retirement. Then her new boss, parachuted in from above, suddenly announces massive layoffs.

The bad news: Her boss is the ex-boyfriend she dumped after taking a breakup fee from him.

The good news: He says he's my Xiaohei?!

Great! No need to worry about being laid off, haha...

"Wait, if you're Xiaohei, where did the real Lu Chi go?"

When Zhu Yu finds Lu Chi, soaking wet from head to toe in a pitch-black sewer, she feels rather sorry for what happened to him.

But even after turning into a cat, the man still threatens her.

Xiaohei (in Lu Chi's form): "Don't worry, Master. If I lose my job, I'll use his money to support you."

Lu Chi (in cat form), glaring menacingly: "Don't use my face to call her Master!"

On the day their souls switch back, Zhu Yu thinks of the days she lorded it over him at the company and made him work as her servant to boost her account's followers and earn money. She decides to pack up and move to another city overnight, but he grabs her by the back of the neck and throws her into a maze-like castle.

Lu Chi loosens his tie and smiles with exaggerated seriousness. "Why run? Didn't you want me to repay you?"

Reader's guide:

1. Bickering couple, falling in love over time.

2. The male lead won't return to normal until quite late in the story.

3. The male and female leads treat the cat like family.

[I'd like to write a story with affection that also has a familial feel. This is a pure inspiration-driven story. If anything makes you uncomfortable while reading, please drop it immediately. There are thousands of good stories out there; if this one doesn't work for you, let's find another.]
