Empress Mingjia

Also known as Meeting the Bright Moon

At the darkest moment of her life, she saw the brightest moon.

The bright moon came to me.

“Shiyi, as in ill fortune and the will of Heaven.”

At their first meeting, one remark from Li Shiyi made him laugh.

At their next meeting, Li Shiyi was trapped in prison, as if proving those words right.

Later, that man changed her fate and made her the most honored woman in a flourishing age.

In a nutshell, this is the story of a common girl who becomes the empress of a new dynasty.

[Excerpt]

Shen Huaixiang leaned against the window, resting his chin in one hand as he watched the people outside with a cool gaze.

They had already left the city, yet she stubbornly insisted on walking by herself.

Shen Huaixiang was losing patience. He said to Jingchuan, who was sitting on the carriage shaft, “Get her up here.” At this rate, how long would it take?

“Yes.” Jingchuan answered. The guard driving the carriage brought it to a stop, and Jingchuan jumped down. He grabbed Li Shiyi by the arm and, with a deft twist, hoisted her onto the carriage shaft. Then he pushed her from behind, sending her tumbling inside.

Li Shiyi had no time to react. She went straight into Shen Huaixiang, who reached out and pressed a palm against the top of her head.

She turned to get back out, but Jingchuan had already climbed aboard, and the guard had set the horses moving again.

“Stop! I want to get off!” She clung to the carriage door and shouted, but nobody listened.

The road grew rough once they left the city, and she could barely keep her balance standing up.

“Sit down.” Shen Huaixiang caught hold of her and pulled her down.

Li Shiyi refused and tried to stand again.

“Are you hurting yourself like this to show Chen Fusheng that the person he risked his life to save doesn't know how to take care of herself?” Shen Huaixiang leaned against the carriage wall, his voice cool as jade.

Li Shiyi froze.
