Ming Dian was a devoted romance-novel fan. She never imagined that one day she would transmigrate to the epicenter of Hong Kong's wealthy-family drama: the Peak.
In that instant, all the Hong Kong tags she'd read about over the years came rushing to mind.
"Harbor Nights," "Deep Snow on Hong Kong Island," "Cold Fireworks over Victoria Harbour," "The Peak and Typhoon Signal No. 8"...
The Peak was always ablaze with lights, and Findlay Road always had a Lamborghini parked on it.
There were always female students, actresses, innocent little white flowers, and lavish peonies,
all caught up in love and hate with rich heirs.
But seriously! How could it ever snow on Hong Kong Island? A typhoon signal was far more likely!
Ming Dian closed the page of her wildly popular serialized novel. The butler informed her that a guest had arrived.
Suit, tie, gold-rimmed glasses, and a Koenigsegg flashy enough to take over the whole skyline.
"I'm Meng Jihan."
"Oh."
Ming Dian replied perfunctorily, giving him the female-gaze treatment.
Broad shoulders, a slim waist, long legs: a handsome, refined scoundrel.
Meng Jihan fell silent for a moment. "Your name is Dian Dian. You're Old Master Ming's only granddaughter."
Why add the qualifier "only"? Ming Dian didn't get it. "Right. You're the wicked capitalist heir whose family has been rich for eighteen generations, who never goes out without an umbrella and never gets dust on his shoes. And I'm the younger sister of the heroine in a 1990s rags-to-riches story about a poor nobody making good. Sorry, we're not a match."
Meng Jihan took off his glasses and tiredly rubbed the bridge of his nose. "Miss Dian, do you have some kind of misunderstanding about me and you?"
Ming Dian smiled at him. "Mr. Meng, please ask me your first question again."
Meng Jihan gazed at her brilliant, radiant smile. "The wind is strong and the rain is heavy. I'm here to ask for shelter."
"Sorry." She curved her eyes into a smile. "The Peak is full."

Ming Dian didn't think she had any obligation to become a wealthy family's wife.
But Meng Jihan told her:
"If you want to know whether Monica and Shao Xing got divorced, be my date tonight and I'll tell you."
