At sixteen, Tang Xiao got into Qing Sen No. 1 High School as the top student in the city. On her first day, the other citywide top student stood behind her and looked down at her. "Tang Xiao? The idiot who got a math problem wrong?"

Some busybodies tried to set them up. Zhou Sinian made a bold declaration with a careless air: "Who'd ever like a little white rabbit like that?"

Then he turned around and changed his WeChat profile picture to a rabbit emoji.

Senior Zhou planned to wait until she was a little older. But fate had other plans, and he never got the chance to fulfill his promise. Tang Xiao's parents died, forcing her to transfer schools. They were apart for six whole years.

For all six years, Tang Xiao received a text from an unknown number on her birthday, sent at midnight with just four words: "Happy birthday."

Later, Zhou Sinian, who lived next door, came over with a cake. Just as the text arrived, he was looking down and lighting the candles. Even though he was twenty-two, he had put in six extra candles.

Tang Xiao watched for a while, then couldn't help pointing it out. "...I'm twenty-two, not twenty-eight."

Zhou Sinian was speechless for a moment.

As if he didn't want to explain but had no choice, he spoke reluctantly. "...I owe you those. Now you get to make six extra wishes."

Mr. Zhou's Diary of Chasing a Rabbit

1. Get along with her friends and find her an easy job that pays well to help with her financial troubles. (Don't rush things.)

2. Pretend to get drunk and confess my feelings to her. (Don't overdo it or go too far.)

3. Use the time difference to surprise her with, "Everyone else thinks your birthday is today, but I'm the only one who knows it's tomorrow." (Prepare for my secret identity to be exposed.)

4. Golden carrots, silver carrots, carrots of every kind. (Material comfort is the foundation of love.)

5. ...

6. ...

In a word: Lure her, coax her, spoil her, love her.

With sincerity, the little rabbit will open the door.
