When the Player Controlling Me Starts Whaling

A genius has emerged among the latest batch of police academy freshmen. Whether it’s investigation or marksmanship, he gets perfect scores in every subject. But only Kirishima Yui knows the truth: it’s not that he’s amazing, it’s that the player controlling him is. The good news: The player is a technical whiz. The bad news: The tech nerd is broke. So whenever the player logs off, Kirishima Yui has no choice but to squeeze in extra jobs, making sure he collects the idle-game coins earned while the player is offline. But to everyone else, the whole thing looks very different. A tragic past, no parents, working his way through school, and outstanding grades. Not only does he catch the attention of the police academy’s Famous Five, he’s also handpicked by the authorities as promising material for undercover work. Then, out of nowhere, in his first month at the distillery, while still on probation, Kirishima Yui’s undercover identity is discovered by the distillery’s hardest worker, who shoots him dead on the spot. All the coins and supplies the player had stockpiled in the game vanish with his death. The player, who had been grinding away for ages, is devastated. They restart the game on the spot, determined to make the character who killed him pay. When Kirishima Yui comes back to life, he sees the skill points and the long string of zeros on the bank card that have appeared in his inventory, and his pupils quake. So the player controlling him is actually rich? Was all that backbreaking work just to experience the life of a commoner??! Theme: Do your job well, whatever your job may be.
