[Petulant, pampered young lady] + [Gentle, cunning prince] A lighthearted, everyday sweet treat. The blurb and character names may be changed.
Chi Shu is the only daughter of the founding general of the current dynasty, and the emperor personally arranged her marriage to the crown prince while she was still in the womb. Because of her frail health, she spent most of her time recuperating at Rong Mountain. She had no choice but to return to the capital and fulfill the engagement the year the crown prince was invested.
The crown prince, Wen Yucheng, is dashing and charming, virtuous, beloved by the emperor and adored by the people. Everyone says he has the makings of a wise ruler.
On their wedding night, Chi Shu behaved sweetly and demurely in Wen Yucheng's arms, delicate and bashful, stirring a touch of pity in his heart.
To Wen Yucheng, Chi Shu is frail. Though she can be mischievous at times, she's soft and clingy, and must be carefully looked after.
Until one day, Wen Yucheng passes by a gambling den in Mo City on official business and suddenly sees a drunk being pinned to the ground by two young men. A girl stands over him, bent forward, holding a wolf-hair brush as she paints a crooked pig's head on the man's face, her eyes sparkling with laughter
His crown princess, who had gone to Rong Mountain to recuperate just a few days ago, has somehow appeared in the streets of Mo City, rosy-cheeked and ready to pick a fight with a drunken strongman.
Wen Yucheng strolls over and straightens the little flower tilting on her hat veil. "Shu'er, what a coincidence."
At his words, her delicate hand freezes. The wolf-hair brush slips from her grasp and rolls slowly to his feet.
Chi Shu immediately stops smiling and tilts her head innocently. "Did you come to see me?"
"I never expected to run into you while I was down the mountain to fetch medicine!"
Her eyes are as clear as ever, but a slight tremble of her lashes betrays her guilt.
Behind her, one of the men accompanying her silently takes out a handkerchief and stuffs it into the strongman's mouth.
Wen Yucheng smiles, running his fingertips over Chi Shu's flushed cheek.
"The crown princess was too frail to leave the palace, and I was worried about you, so I came to see you."
"You've spent several days recuperating at Rong Mountain. Why do you look even frailer?"
"You've lost weight, too."
