--Blurb--
Wen Xueyin is the only daughter of the retired prime minister, doted on endlessly and raised with a pampered, haughty disposition.
So rumors spread through the capital that the prime minister's daughter was all beauty and no brains, with such an arrogant air that no one would dare marry her. Even Wen Xueyin herself thought there was some truth to it.
Then she received an imperial decree and promptly packed her bags and moved into the Eastern Palace.
Everyone sighed. What kind of man was Crown Prince Zhao Yuange? What did beauty matter to him? The crown prince valued inner beauty, and a girl like the prime minister's daughter wouldn't even catch his eye!
Wen Xueyin alone despised that rumor.
“Who said Zhao Yuange was gentle and self-restrained? All prim and proper on the outside, but he's still just a stinking man!”
The man reached out and put an arm around her waist. “Who is the Crown Princess talking about?”
“Whoever's holding me!”
“Is that so?”
Lights out, time to talk things over!
Black-to-white * white-to-black

Its previous working title was The Princess Has a General to Protect Her
[Sunny Princess] * [Mad General]
A rabid dog becomes a loyal one for love. An arranged marriage turns to love; a forced marriage and possessive love.
Rumor had it that the princess fell in love with the Northern Garrison's Great General at first sight, that the two were mutually smitten, and that they married.
Only Rong Sui knew how desperately hard she'd fought to escape a political marriage, and how difficult it had been to force this marriage through instead.
On the day the imperial decree ordering their marriage was sent to the general's residence, Rong Sui secretly climbed onto the courtyard wall.
Through the swaying shadows of the trees, she saw a trace of disgust cross Zuo Muheng's face when his eyes fell on the decree.
Zuo Muheng did not accept the decree. Instead, he ordered a carriage prepared, intending to go to the palace and accept punishment.
Panicking, Rong Sui lost her balance and tumbled off the high wall.
A shadow fell over her curled-up body as she writhed in pain.
She looked up to see the man gazing down at her, his eyes cold and dark, as sharp as a knife.
She wiped the dust from her face, her eyes brimming with tears as she softened her voice. “Please, General, marry me!”
The man crouched down and said coldly, “There is a difference between ruler and subject. Your Highness must be joking.”
Arrogant and disdainful, he looked down on her like a man born to rule.
She swore on her life and signed a divorce agreement to take effect in one year. In the end, she still got the marriage she wanted.
As their year together neared its end, the emperor fell ill and the crown prince took charge. Trouble broke out at the border, and Zuo Muheng was ordered to lead troops to the southern frontier, departing in the middle of the night.
Just as victory seemed certain for his army, Rong Sui's maternal family was convicted of a crime, and she was stripped of her title and demoted to commoner.
On the eve of her sentencing, she presented the divorce agreement before the throne and left for Yanzhou alone.
The day after Zuo Muheng returned victorious to report to the emperor, he rode out of the capital, eyes red, and raced toward Yanzhou.
*
At the time, Rong Sui was teaching little girls poetry at a merchant family's school. Zuo Muheng kicked open the door and strode in, grim-faced and covered in road dust, then kissed her eyelids.
The next moment, he hoisted Rong Sui over his shoulder and strode out of the school.
She struggled on his shoulder.
Zuo Muheng tightened his arm around her, holding back but unyielding. Only when he set her down on the carriage bed did he speak, his voice hoarse, like a long-dormant beast about to devour her whole.
“Conquered cities are never returned. It's all right if you don't understand, A Sui. Starting today, I'll teach you.”
“Don't leave me.”
“Please...”
He had been willing to grow in darkness until the day he died. But Rong Sui insisted on barging into his life and showing him the warmth of the sun. Of course he would seize her with all his might and never let go, even if it meant fighting to the death.
