The Story of Ruyi: The Consort’s Troubles

In her previous life, Gao Xiyue was arrogant and domineering, relying on her family's status and looking down on everyone. She believed the slander of petty people and constantly targeted Ruyi and the others, ultimately dying of cold. She took a winning hand and played it into a complete mess.

"My whole life was like a foolish dream, and now it's too late for regrets. I only hope that in my next life I won't be born into the imperial family. I want to marry quietly, care for my husband and raise my children, and be a virtuous, kind person for once."

After being reborn, Gao Xiyue returns to the day Hongli chooses his consorts.

She resolves to stay away from the palace's vicious infighting, get along with Ruyi's faction, and coast along until that scoundrel of an emperor dies.

"Lady Gao Xiyue, as lovely as her name. Such beauty deserves a reward of a hundred taels of gold."

"Thank you for your generosity, Fourth Prince."

Gao Xiyue waves jauntily at the future Qianlong Emperor, whose expression is complicated, and the other candidates, all left gaping. Then she takes her little gold ingots and heads straight out of the palace. On her way through the Imperial Garden, she happens to find a handsome young man hiding in the bushes and crying to himself.

"Don't cry. I'll take you to get something delicious."

In this life, Gao Xiyue still starts out as an Imperial Noble Consort. She spends her days humming and chatting with her birds, then lazily gets promoted to Noble Consort Dowager.

Qianlong can go find whoever he likes, and those women can fight all they want. She's not raising that scoundrel's children.

But the young man she casually picked up that year has since been made Prince He, and he still likes to use the excuse of warming his sister-in-law's bed to sneak onto the roof tiles of her Xianfu Palace late at night.

"He loves the warmth she exudes, and the courage she inspires in him."

To Hongzhou, Gao Xiyue is more precious than anything else in the world.
