[Dream of the Red Chamber] A Fine Match

In her tenth year living in ancient times, Yun Shu accompanies her mother to a banquet at the Jia residence. Only then does she realize she's in Dream of the Red Chamber, and her father is Yun Guang, the Chang'an military governor who had dealings with the Jia family when Wang Xifeng abused her power at Iron Threshold Temple!

At this point, Lady Jia and Madam Wang are still smiling and praising her from their seats: “The eldest daughter of the Yun family is graceful and composed, and as beautiful and serene as a painting. Her age is just right for our Baoyu.” Yun Shu, who is on the verge of accidentally breaking up the Baoyu and Daiyu pairing without even realizing it: ?!

After returning home, Yun Shu draws up three plans to stay alive:

1. Protect the Yun family.

2. Protect her mother's natal family, the Duke of Shanguo's household.

3. Find herself a future that doesn't end in tragedy.

She's got some ideas about the first two. The last one, though, is hopeless: is there a single normal man in the whole novel?

On the day of the ceremony at the Qingxu Temple, Yun Shu slips away to catch her breath in a side hall, where she actually meets a promising candidate for a happy match.

The handsome young gentleman coming toward her has a back as straight as a pine and a face as bright as the moon. Isn't he Feng Ziying, son of General Shenwu Feng Tang, a man of both letters and arms, with a chivalrous spirit and a keen understanding of people?

“He taught me to let go of resentment, temper my anger, and change my ways.”

“Still, I let my innocence and joy give me strength, and refuse to believe in past lives.”

“This time, I mean to cross the mountains, ford the rivers, and see the truth for myself.”

When an onlooker finally decides to step into the story herself,

this is not a tale of saving Dream of the Red Chamber. It's the story of a girl fighting for a way to survive within a fate already written.

Theme: Know how the story ends, but refuse to accept your fate. Live for yourself.
