The first time they met.

Xu Leyan held a brand-new thermos, waiting outside the gates of Yuansheng Group until two in the morning for the newly appointed head of the Sheng family to pass by.

Through the car window, Sheng Zewen saw the stranger pursuing him. Her lips were purple with cold, yet she carefully shielded the thermos in her arms. She was like a stalker who had no sense of boundaries.

His expression was indifferent as he signaled the driver to leave.

The car swept past the girl.

Later.

Xu Leyan stood in the hospital corridor, gazing at him with eyes blazing like fire, filled with tenderness.

“Mr. Sheng, I have a rare blood type too. I'm willing to donate bone marrow to your younger sister.”

The man lowered his lashes slightly and saw that the girl before him was so slender she looked as if she could be snapped in two.

It was as if a weak little cat had gently scratched at his heart with its claws.

He gave a faint smile.

“Tell me, what do you want in return?”

“Please save my friend.”

As the man's imposing, aggressive presence drew closer, his masculine aura pressing in, Xu Leyan had no choice but to step back.

The man coolly studied her features. “Are you always this naive, Miss Xu?”

When Sheng Zewen realized that the cat who used to scratch him at home had finally become docile and obedient, he booked a restaurant and specially cleared his schedule to give their relationship a new name.

He waited from dusk until dawn, but her phone would no longer connect.

She left him only a note: [Mr. Sheng, let's never meet again!]

The whereabouts he had once known by heart had vanished without a trace.

Years later, they met again.

On a rainy night, Xu Leyan knocked on the same door again, for the sake of her child.

The man sat with his legs crossed in the dim living room, the light reflecting coldly off his gold-rimmed glasses.

His voice was icy. “You've been playing around long enough. Finally decided to come home?”
