Settle the Mountains and Rivers

Clad in robes of wind and cloud, white as a rainbow, I raise my long arrow and shoot the Heavenly Wolf.

Endless yellow sands bury the loyal dead.

With half a lifetime spent on horseback, I will bring peace to the land.

In the twelfth month of the sixth year of Qiyuan,

The Mei clan of Yinchuan, hailed as the rising star of the battlefield,

was condemned to execution in its entirety

for its patriarch's alleged treason and collusion with the enemy.

Only Mei Shuyao, the legitimate second son, escaped death,

but from that moment on, his whereabouts were unknown.

Four years later,

war flared anew, and the enemy struck again.

Mei Shuyao risked his life to return to the battlefield,

and was fortunate enough to serve under Jiang Jihan.

Drawing on all he had learned, he devised strategies and won victories from afar,

clearing the Mei clan's name

and rekindling its reputation as the rising star.

“After the Li clan wronged the Mei clan so terribly, why would you still protect their realm?”

“What do you think of what I have done, General? Why don't you answer that for me?”

“What I wish to protect, and what you wish to protect, sir, has never been anyone's realm. It's the smoke curling from the hearths beneath these countless miles of walls.”
