After the late emperor's death, Jiang Xuezhen, who had never been favored by him, was granted the title of Imperial Consort Dowager by the new emperor.
Consort Dowager Jiang was a delicate beauty, graceful as an immortal, and plagued by poor health. She was a sickly beauty raised in the sheltered depths of a noble household.
The new emperor often visited her palace to check on her. Separated by a screen, he remained cool and respectful, never once overstepping his bounds.
Everyone in the palace praised the new emperor for his gentlemanly conduct.
Only Jiang Xuezhen knew that this was a vicious wolf she had already angered, one ready to reveal his savage, terrifying nature at any moment.
--
When Jiang Xuezhen was still a young lady, she once came across a young man.
Later, when she saw affection in his eyes, she was moved to tease him.
"Kill someone for me, and I'll elope with you."
The young man took her seriously. But when he returned wounded to find her, she had already entered the palace.
--
On the night the new emperor discovered that Jiang Xuezhen had secretly left the palace, he finally tore off his hypocritical mask. His eyes brimmed with hatred that pierced to the bone.
"You think I won't kill you?"
Delicate, pampered, sickly beauty x fallen emperor. Angsty, melodramatic coercive romance. One-on-one, both virgins, happy ending!

------Please add My Concubine's Cold Heart to your reading list------
Crown Prince Fu Yan was handsome and proud, decisive and cold in his dealings. He disliked having people near him, yet he alone could tolerate having Cui Jiao, his secretary, attend to him.
Everyone in the Eastern Palace knew that Cui Jiao was both a female palace official and his concubine.
She came from a wealthy, aristocratic family. Beautiful and delicate, she could be charming or petulant, making her especially endearing. She had even willingly become a concubine, using every seductive trick to win his favor.
Fu Yan looked down on her, yet craved the tenderness and devotion she gave him.
Fu Yan knew he must not lose himself in love. Once the Crown Princess entered the Eastern Palace, he could easily send this concubine away or give her to someone else.
But Fu Yan found himself reluctant. He wanted to give her a proper title and keep her at his side openly and honorably.
A few days before his wedding, Fu Yan warned her, "Once I am married to the Crown Princess, I will arrange somewhere for you to go."
The beauty kneeling before him gazed up with her dewy, affectionate eyes, then lowered her head and nodded obediently.
Fu Yan sighed. This concubine truly loved him to the depths of her soul.
But on the day of Fu Yan's wedding, he learned that the concubine had secretly taken a lover. They were only waiting for her to be dismissed so they could live together, and even dreamed of having a son and a daughter!
In a fit of rage, Fu Yan meant to kill the adulterer with his own hands.
But she stabbed him to protect that adulterer!
How could he ever forgive her?
--
At first, Cui Jiao only wanted the Crown Prince's protection to save her own life. She served him diligently, making plans for her and her brother's future.
Once the time was right and her brother passed the imperial examinations, she would no longer have to serve this difficult, vicious master. She could leave the Eastern Palace and make a life of her own.
On a snowy night, Cui Jiao and her brother secretly boarded a boat bound for Yizhou. Once they traveled south and reached Yizhou, she could make her own way in the world.
The boat suddenly stopped halfway through its journey. Flames filled the sky and surrounded Cui Jiao's boat. Through the doors and windows, Fu Yan's icy voice came over the water. "Lady Cui, stab him twice right now, and I will let the past go."
Reading Notes:
1. Arrogant crown prince who eats his words x carefree, flirtatious beauty
2. One-on-one, both virgins, happy ending
3. The brother and female lead are not related by blood
4. Set in an alternate Tang dynasty
Theme: When you turn around, that person is there where the lights grow dim.
The male protagonist is too indecisive. Zhang Quan has repeatedly wanted the female protagonist to die. Why are you keeping his life? Since you can't bear to execute him, why don't you rush to the border earlier and stay away from you?
I don't quite understand why Zhang Quan has to target the heroine... He says he likes her but doesn't want her to feel better. It feels like a very awkward character.
Oh my god, how could there be so little sweetness? I regretted the whole book... I couldn't wait to read the title, which seemed sweet, but it turned out that the heroine was really cruel. By the end, the hero was worried about gains and losses. In other stories, the hero was worried about gains and losses. Me: She loves you! This one, I: It's hard to say, maybe she doesn't like it. Are there any sweet chapters that you can show me? Finally: Zhang Quan, you are so big???
Is the hero so stupid? There is also Zhang Quan who can't keep his lower body and stubbornly believes that the heroine is harming the male protagonist without caring about the overall situation. Is it possible that you are taking the overall situation into consideration by marrying a wife like you who is cold-blooded and violent, leaving her a widow and still dreaming of having a group of wives and concubines? The bastard of hell
I seriously doubt the author's plot. Zhang Quan's character has caused disgusting things more than once or twice. Can't we just kill him?
I'm so bored watching it. It gets boring after watching it again and again. When will this Zhang Quan die?
Wang Ningxiu was pretending to reply in her mind, and she was still thinking about sending Zhang Quan's soul and letting him live out his remaining years as a widow.
Zhang Quan kidnapped the male protagonist all day long for his own selfish desires and took the overall situation into consideration. Wang Ningxiu was right, he did not deserve to be loved, and the king was a bitch, so he deserved to be abused by Zhang Quan. However, Zhang Quan was right in one sentence, the male protagonist was not a qualified emperor. His biggest problem was that he missed the past friendship too much, and had no boundaries between monarch and minister. He was also too kind. When the king said that he had an heir, he became soft-hearted. He did not have any majesty of an emperor, and he deserved it.
I can foresee that the annoying Zhang Quan will come out to act like a monster while the male protagonist is in prison, which is annoying.
Zhang Quan makes me feel sick
