The Demoness and Her Pretty Little Puppy

[Blurb]

Li Shu was born without desire or emotion, making her the perfect candidate to cultivate the Heartless Dao. As soon as she entered the immortal mountains, she was hailed as the orthodox heir and worshipped by countless people.

Yet after three hundred years of arduous cultivation, she had made no progress. She endured the cruel words and cold stares hidden beneath a mask of hypocrisy until, one day, her cultivation went awry. Her power soared, and she became someone all three realms feared.

The demon realm refused to acknowledge her, while her fellow cultivators in the orthodox sect all wanted to kill her and claim the credit.

Li Shu gave a flirtatious sidelong glance and sneered. "Then shall I leave?"

She turned around and set the entire immortal mountain ablaze.

With all hope gone, she sealed herself away in the Water Prison for seven thousand years.

Until a pair of dewy eyes looked up at her, melting the ice around her.

[Little Scene]

Years later, whenever someone recited a passage from the Heavenly Strategy Book: "In the seventy-thousandth year of the Immortal Era, a demon descended upon the world. Flames devoured the immortal mountains for days on end. The demon then rose to wreak havoc across the three realms."

Qi Mo would furrow his delicate brows in protest, then buy another bag of candy to take home. Without a word, he would stuff it into Li Shu's arms, then curl up on her lap and ask, looking aggrieved, "Am I really not allowed to beat up the people who badmouth you?"

Li Shu would smile and stroke his soft, long hair. She would peel a piece of candy, hold it lightly between her lips, and raise an eyebrow at him.

"You can. But first, help me see if this candy is sweet."

The title isn't insulting anyone. The male lead was literally a dog in his original form.

Strong female lead, male lead plays a supporting role. Most likely an old-school, melodramatic xianxia romance.

The logic goes off the rails. If you take it too seriously, that's on me.
