I Am at Odds with the Immortal Venerable

Everyone in the immortal sects knew that Gu Qinzhi and Xiao Yin were fellow disciples, yet they were bitter rivals, locked in a fierce contest for centuries without either gaining the upper hand.

Gu Qinzhi had an unsurpassed beauty, but a frigid temperament. He was famed as an untouchable flower atop a mountain peak.

Xiao Yin, meanwhile, was a demon who no one in the immortal sects dared offend: unruly and ill-disciplined. After leaving their master, he founded his own sect and opposed the immortal sects at every turn.

A hundred years ago, the war between immortals and demons left all life within a hundred li devastated.

Xiao Yin died horribly at the hands of the Demon Venerable. Thousands of disciples from the immortal sects mourned for days. Only Gu Qinzhi remained as cool and composed as ever, not shedding a single tear. Once the funeral was over, he announced that he would enter seclusion and did not appear for ten years.

When he finally emerged, the immortal sects came to congratulate him, but he was nowhere to be seen.

That night, someone saw a pale figure standing for a long time before Xiao Yin's grave. A human head, offered as a sacrifice, lay before the tombstone.

The figure's voice was low and somber. "A Yin, I avenged you."

After emerging from seclusion, Gu Qinzhi never spoke another word. Everyone thought the Immortal Venerable had become mute.

That was until a hundred years later, when the immortal sect took in a junior disciple who was just as unruly and constantly provoked the Immortal Venerable.

Everyone expected the cold, ruthless Immortal Venerable to punish him, but then the Immortal Venerable, who hadn't spoken in a hundred years, finally said:

Gu Qinzhi: I'll teach this disciple myself.

Later, strange noises often came from the Immortal Venerable's bedchamber, leaving everyone who heard them blushing and breathless.

"Senior Brother, did you miss me?"

"I did... I missed you so much."
