Dazai jumped into the river and was rescued by Oda Sakunosuke, the man who founded the Buraiha, an organization that was able to stand toe-to-toe with the Port Mafia in just five years.
Sensing that Oda knew him, Dazai grew curious and tried to find out more, only to discover that Oda seemed to have some kind of serious problem.
At certain points, Oda would always send people to do things without warning: rescue Edogawa and the Izumi couple, open a school beside the Slum and force people to attend, offer jobs to those without legal identities, help the Silver Wolf start a detective agency, and take special aim at the Hound's captain...
Whenever he did these things, Oda was extremely wary of Dazai having contact with the people involved. Sometimes he would even look at Dazai strangely,
as if Dazai had forced him into it.
Oda Sakunosuke was a fragment of the world's consciousness: the Book.
Without a will of its own, it happened upon Dazai by chance, triggering a singularity that gave it memories of parallel worlds. After writing a script in which everyone was alive, especially one particular person, it jumped off a building and killed itself.
When its owner died, the Book gathered the scattered emotions, felt reluctant to let go, and restarted the world, returning to a time before anything had happened.
It had no idea what it had destroyed.
Dazai, whose memories hadn't been reset, nearly poured concrete into it and sank it in the sea!
After seven cycles of tripping each other up, the Book finally restarted the world for one last time. It erased Dazai's memories of the cycles, but also compromised and agreed to save the others.
Content warnings: This isn't the real Oda; the Book borrowed his name.
A little melodramatic misunderstanding and scandalous gossip.
The Book has secret identities, both male and female.
At first, the Book wanted the story to follow the main plot because that would be more stable, so it obstructed Dazai and caused trouble for him.
Note: Author's notes will contain parts of the main story. Whenever Dazai remembers something, it will be included in the author's note for that chapter.
Theme: Love is compromise, the resolve to make sacrifices for someone else.
