Terashima Weicun is an ordinary university student: reasonably good-looking, a little moneyed, with few friends, and diligent in his studies. He is a second-year directing student at Tokyo University of the Arts.
“If you believe this introduction, then that’s great. If you don’t, there’s nothing I can do. After all, I’m just an innocent university student. What could I possibly be lying to you about?”
A month ago, this ordinary person went to the hospital because he wasn’t feeling well and discovered that he was terminally ill, with death fast approaching. Before he could even accept the news, however, he unexpectedly found a way out. Unwilling to wait for death, he seized the chance.
Terashima Weicun never wants to experience again the pain of feeling his life slip away while being powerless to stop it. He will do whatever it takes to complete the missions issued by the so-called System and extend his limited lifespan, delaying death again and again.
Even if he has to “die once more.”
Starting with that unexpected incident, Terashima Weicun appears somewhere new every week, inhabiting a different body and filling in gaps in the plot. The timing varies, the job varies, and whether he lives or dies varies.
Filling in as an NPC to patch up the plot? He knows that job well. Isn’t that what a competent director does?
But doing the acting himself is a first.
Playing a coffee shop owner: a case occurs in the cozy, tastefully decorated shop. As the owner, he must call the police immediately, then watch the detective and police analyze the case up close.
A newly hired teacher takes the children on a field trip. A few mischievous kids go missing, probably lost in the woods. When he finds them, he sees something he shouldn’t have.
A veteran police officer, at a moment of danger, gives the hope of survival to his junior, who has only been on the job for a few months, then embraces the criminal and perishes in a sea of flames.
A murderer, lost in his own world, has planned a series of killings. At last, the final act begins.
