King of Rock [British and American Showbiz]

Many years later, when faced with the title “King of Rock,” William Nightingale would remember the afternoon a reporter questioned him. The reporter warned him solemnly, “Brothers shouldn't kiss each other on the lips.” * This was the greatest era of rock music. The Father of Rock danced the duck walk. Elvis was just starting out. And the world-famous Beatles were still a band of rebellious young men from the banks of the Mersey. William would write his own story in this age of dazzling stars. * He was the King of Rock, a one-man history of rock music. He was a scandal machine, the favorite of the tabloids. Some called him an angel of music; others said he was a spellbinding wizard. There were so many fantastical rumors about him. His extraordinary beauty and bizarre background brought him not only frenzied adoration, but controversy that followed him throughout his life. But when it came to his music, whether people loved or hated him, their opinions were astonishingly unanimous: “He is a living legend.” * Notes: - A story about a British band in the 1960s.
