The Apocalypse Arrives, and I Become the Source of Corruption

Shen Qianran has spent years working with corpses as a forensic pathologist. Though her thoughts are sometimes a little unusual, she firmly believes she's no different from an ordinary person, until one day, a sudden change comes over Blue Star.

The apocalypse arrives. The sun turns black, and a sudden invasion of evil drags everyone into a dream, sweeping across the globe in an instant.

During the "Dream Invasion," people can be infected and assimilated by sources of contamination at the slightest lapse in attention, becoming aberrant species.

Ordinary people: frail, timid, and helpless.

Shen Qianran: This is novel and interesting. I even want to give it a try ^-^

The "dreams" that others desperately try to avoid somehow inspire a strange longing and anticipation in her.

When the dream ends, Shen Qianran opens her eyes, and a voice sounds in her ears at the same time.

[Congratulations, player! Your contamination level is 1000%! You have successfully become a Contamination Mother!]

Shen Qianran: ?

From then on, everything starts to get strange.

The first "child" infected by the Mother

When the city becomes a nest for contaminated creatures.

The bloodthirsty Thousand-Handed Vine sprouts in the city center, blooms, and spreads until it covers the entire steel fortress.

Whenever humans appear, the Thousand-Handed Vine splits open its roots as if grinning: Humans... are food, fertilizer. Not one of you... will escape!!

Until it sees Shen Qianran.

At first glance, the Thousand-Handed Vine is thrilled: Food! Delicious food!

At second glance, it turns cold: No, she's one of us.

At third glance, it weeps: No, she's Mom! Mom, you finally came to get me!

Shen Qianran: ...Is something wrong with its head?

The second "child"

In a foul-smelling mountain of rotting garbage, covered in poisonous sores, it is a one-eyed beast loathed and feared by everyone.

I thought there was nothing left in this world worth caring about, until I saw her.

After the apocalypse began, Shen Qianran somehow realized that a "little shadow" was following her around.

It wasn't an aberrant species, but a source of contamination like her!

Aberrant species can be infected and subdued, but sources of contamination can only covet, fight, and devour one another.

The "little shadow" thinks it's hiding very well, watching everything she does from the corner.

What's even more ridiculous is how it approaches her: in this terrifying apocalypse, it possesses cute, harmless, clean animals and begs her to take them in!

Shen Qianran is disgusted and wary, and even mercilessly kills these possessed creatures outright.

But when it keeps coming back, offering her everything it has, and acting like a stray, loyal dog that won't leave even when covered in wounds, Shen Qianran finally grows curious and puzzled, and stops driving it away.

She wants to see what it really wants...

Reading guide: 1. A strong female lead and a story of growth. The heroine is somewhat selfish and cold.

2. The male lead isn't human (literally).

3. The heroine sometimes acts out of excessive kindness, but never toward humans. Simply put, as the Contamination Mother, she takes in and subdues many aberrant plants and animals. (An unconventional pet-raising story, lol.)

Theme: Be self-reliant and stand on your own.
