If the cultivation world ever held a contest for "Poorest Sect," the Beast Taming Sect would definitely come in first. Do you know how expensive it is to raise all those little ones?
At long last, the Beast Taming Sect's master attained the Dao and ascended. Once he reached the Upper Realm, Bai Ling realized something was off. What were these skyscrapers and metal boxes? Weren't there supposed to be nine layers of immortal realms?
But there was no time to worry about that. "When one person attains the Dao, even their chickens and dogs ascend." Bai Ling wanted to bring the people of the Beast Taming Sect over first. But things didn't go quite as planned. A group calling themselves the Anomaly Management Bureau said he needed a zoo permit to bring them over.
"A zoo? What zoo permit? We're a proper Beast Taming Sect!"
"Even if our disciples starve to death and have to beg in the streets, they will never turn into their true forms to be put on display."
"What? You get subsidies for opening a zoo?"
"Ahem. Where's the zoo sign Peacock made the other day? Hurry and get it out of the woodshed and put it up."
And so, a zoo where everyone was forced to work opened on Blue Star.
The Beast Taming Sect's disciples: We're here to slack off. Don't bother us. We'll take the subsidies and eat.
But why was the sect getting richer by the day?
Sect Master Bai Ling was quite puzzled.
Why was the grass that the little ones couldn't finish eating treated as a precious delicacy by restaurants renowned at home and abroad, with its price soaring a hundredfold?
Why were the fruits found all over the sect hailed as "miracle cures for baldness" by balding visitors? They were really just little snacks for the little ones during their awkward molting phase.
And then there were the sect's lazy pandas. Bai Ling was nearly bankrupt from feeding these gluttonous bears, so how had they become "national treasures" here? People were even fighting for the chance to touch one.
Bai Ling: I don't really understand, but I'm coming for all the gemstones I couldn't afford before! The dragon, happily buried in a pile of gems, let the tip of its tail peek out...
The Anomaly Management Bureau: "Holy crap, it's a dragon! Sir, why didn't you tell us sooner that you were a dragon?"
Bai Ling leisurely swished his tail. "Your list of first-class protected animals didn't include dragons. Didn't you say there were no subsidies for animals outside that category?"
"Sir, you're even more precious than a national treasure."
